Question about Microsoft Surface Dock 2
If I have two screens with HDMI or Displayport, do I understand correctly that I cannot use this docking? Will my Pro 8 work with a "normal" dock that simply supports Thunderbold? Who really knows what's going on?

The Surface Dock 2 was designed more for the Book series, but in my opinion it is overpriced and outdated since the new Surface Pro's have Thunderbolt.
My recommendation is to buy a Thunderbolt 3 dock.
