Is it still possible to connect the speakers to an amplifier via the speaker cable? is the output for the second speaker also an input?

Of course you CAN - but you SHOULDN'T. ;)
No, all joking aside - if you have an amplifier, you don't need LS with an integrated power amplifier - that's "thinner than water".
Superfluous and doesn't work. ;)
