The part is very robust and resistant - I use it regularly without any consideration and it still looks like new! I wouldn't be aware of a case or anything. :)

I would also like a case for it, not so much because of the damage, but more because you could then attach it if there is an eyelet on it. The part is so small that you can lose it quickly.
