The Surface Pro 8 always gets very hot when I use the Dock 2, especially at the connector to the dock. The connector also gets extremely hot. The fan can then be heard regularly, even when no CPU-heavy activities are being carried out. Can anyone help me? Is this due to the dock? Thank you!
I use the Dock 2 on the Surface Laptop Studio. I don't notice any excessive heating. Could it be that the Surface Pro 8 only heats up because the battery is being charged? Then the Surface can get quite warm and the fan spins up. As soon as the battery is fully charged, the temperature and the fan speed return to normal. It is also important to make sure that the ventilation openings are free so that the hot air can escape unhindered. The fact that the plug gets hot only shows that the Surface Pro 8 "sucks" a lot of power. If this is not due to the activity of the CPU, it is probably the battery.
That's not exactly a lot of information. I would start with comparisons: How does the Surface perform on another dock? How does another Surface perform on your Dock 2?
