Question about WD Red Plus

would like to expand my Diskstation Synology DS1513+ (currently 5 x 4 TB). Does this work with the exchange of (according to Synology) 2 hard disks? So 2 x 4 TB out, 2 x 8 TB or 12 TB in.

Which raid mode is currently active? RAID 5 or RAID 6?

Yes, that's no problem, with Synology you can swap one disc for the next and replace it with a larger disc. With the DS1513+, however, the question would also be whether one could not offer the whole DS1513+ with the 4TB discs via Tutti or Ricardo or even if bought at Digitec via Digitec.

I would then buy this new DS1522+, it is not very expensive (you can finance part of it with the sale of the DS1513+), but it gets very long support and you can then build the new NAS with the large disks, perhaps even continue to use the old one as a backup.
