Product details

Designing transportation in an ecological and socially acceptable manner is a political and societal objective. The introduction of the semester ticket has created an incentive system for the use of public transport. How has the choice of transportation changed with the introduction of the semester ticket? What influence do the location of the university and the quality of the transport services have on students' choice of transportation? The author, Maja Kurbatsch, discusses the influencing factors of transportation choice in the introduction. In the empirical part of the work, the author analyzes the determinants of transportation choice using the case study of FHTW Berlin. Overall, the semester ticket meets expectations. Evidence for this includes the empirically observed transfer effects in favor of public transport and the general satisfaction of students with the ticket. Nevertheless, it becomes clear that merely introducing a new fare offer is not enough. The good connection of a university location to public transport is crucial for the success of such a special ticket.
