In August 2002, philosophers gathered for a conference in Frankfurt to discuss the foundations of ethics. The topics included truth in morality, ontology and morality, the relationship between metaethics and normative ethics, the nature of practical reasons, and not least, the fundamental elements of a substantive moral theory. The contributions in this volume emerged from that discussion. The volume includes contributions from Norbert Anwander, Paul Bloomfield, Friedrich Dudda, Kirsten B. Endres, Rafael Hüntelmann, Hallvard Lillehammer, Peter Schaber, Tatjana Tarkian, Erwin Tegtmeier, and Thomas Zoglauer.
