"Miles or Mirages?" is a scholarly book that examines the role of women in public life in Zimbabwe. It argues that women's active participation in this area remains low and is often viewed as a privilege of men. The book highlights the historical struggles of women striving for a stronger presence in public life and analyzes the successes and challenges they face. Through the developments of the international women's movement and current feminist discourses, Zimbabwean women have begun to fight for more rights and opportunities in traditionally male-dominated fields such as politics, education, and media. The author, Enna Sukutai Gudhlanga, questions whether the advances made by women in public life are genuinely real or merely illusions. Finally, potential strategies for improving women's participation in public life are presented.
