On all fours

Her new novel "On All Fours" proves once again that this author is second to none. A moderately well-known artist gives herself a trip from the west coast of the USA to New York for her 45th birthday. She wants to prove something to herself and plans the trip alone by car, out of her comfort zone. She has to be back after two weeks, with her husband and child, but above all because the greatest pop singer alive wants to meet her to talk about a joint project. But she doesn't have far to go. A few kilometres from her suburban home, she supposedly falls in love with the man who cleans her car window at the petrol station, Davey. She rents a room in a cheap motel, has her room completely redecorated by Davey's wife and imagines herself in a different life. A great novel about femininity outside the norm and lust outside conventions.
