The second time I used it, it started to hiss, crackle and smoke while heating up. Disconnecting the appliance from the mains did not solve the problem and it continued to smoke. With a pair of grill gloves, the appliance could be quickly taken out of the house into the open air.
We won't be using it again.

It's unbelievable that such a reputable brand produces such crap... After a few weeks of use (let's say 30 sheets...) the machine jammed and would no longer advance. The ABS lever was unusable. After dismantling, here's what we found: the motor was too weak on a transmission shaft that was too flexible, which led to jumps in the transmission. In short, the motor drives two rubber rollers which are heated to melt the glue on your laminating sheet. The temperature of these rollers is controlled by a thermistor on only one of the rollers (the other can catch fire, but the temperature control will see it far too late). What's more, this thermistor is held against the moving roller with spring-loaded screws, without any lubrication, causing damage to the roller. Once the roller has been hollowed out by the thermistor, the latter can move into a position that acts as a brake against the roller... Oh, and back to the ABS lever, which was unusable because no lubrication was provided to disengage the axle (that's what the lever is for), so until you've used it, expect to have to use a lot of force to operate it. In short, it's a piece of rubbish, and when you see the 'QC passed' stickers on the back, stuck any which way, you suspect that the controls are carried out with great care...

In my experience, the machine laminates messily and the film often gets stuck. About every third sheet was either laminated wavily or had to be removed manually due to a jam.
