Didactics is primarily associated with teacher education, the profession of teachers, and the institution of school. However, its application extends far beyond that. Therefore, on one hand, there is a need for expansion towards a public didactics, and on the other hand, the mentioned areas must be more clearly defined. One of these areas is research on teaching and learning literature. It emphasizes the intersections between literary studies, university subject didactics, higher education didactics, and the requirements of school and extracurricular didactics. This volume provides an overview of the current research on teaching and learning literature in their respective institutional contexts. Furthermore, the authors express wishes and goals for literary didactic research and explore future perspectives. Through their far-sighted and rich analyses, they also open up an international discussion space for questions related to literary didactics.
