The book "Secondary School Performance in Bangladesh" offers a comprehensive statistical analysis of the performance in the secondary school system of Bangladesh. It examines the results of the SSC examinations over a period of seven years (2001-2007) and finds that the overall pass rate of 47.61 percent falls below expectations. To measure school performance, a new approach is introduced in the form of the School Performance Index (SPI) and the Teachers Quality Index (TQI). By applying simple and multiple regression analysis, various factors such as the quality of teachers, the student-to-teacher ratio, and school locations are taken into account. Based on the findings, recommendations are made to improve school performance, including providing better educational resources in disadvantaged areas and increasing the number of qualified teachers in mathematics and English subjects.
