Product details
The book "Stable Isotopes of Rainfall and Runoff in Small Arid Basins" summarizes a dissertation conducted at the Water Resources Center of the Jacob Blaustein Institute for Desert Research at Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Israel. The aim of this work was to assess the potential for groundwater recharge in arid, rocky catchments that consist of bare rock in the upper part of the slopes and colluvium/alluvium in the lower part. The book presents three independent methods for investigation, including the analysis of the isotopic composition of rainfall and runoff. High-resolution samples of rainwater as well as regular samples of runoff water are collected. Additionally, a 1-D mathematical model is introduced that simulates the transport of 18O from rainfall to runoff. The book is aimed at researchers and students who use environmental tracers to gain a better understanding of the hydrological system.
