The book "The Past, Present, and Future for Financial Centers in Belgium" offers a comprehensive analysis of the tax regime and business environment for financial centers of multinational companies in Belgium. The author, Marius Styczen, examines the advantages of taxing such activities in Belgium and concludes that the country represents an attractive location for financial centers. The study covers the activities carried out by financial centers as well as the associated benefits. Additionally, two case studies of multinational companies, Statoil and Statkraft, are presented to illustrate the advantages of an independent and centralized financial center, as well as the tax framework in Belgium. The book evaluates the current regime in the context of current market conditions and explains why Belgium will continue to benefit from favorable tax conditions. Furthermore, a method is introduced on how financial centers can leverage differences in tax regimes to create tax arbitrage.
