How bright is the lamp? So can it also brighten up the living room or is it only intended as a background light for the TV? 2500 lumens is not a small amount? Thank you!

I wouldn't recommend it as the sole main lamp, but it works very well for us as a reading lamp or as room lighting to deter burglars. White walls are helpful and together with additional lamps it creates wonderful indirect lighting.

It is certainly not intended as a stand-alone lamp. It only shines in one direction and is only used indirectly. But when it is set to white, it brightens up well.

If the light is white and the wall is white, it should work. We use the lamp for reading and watching TV, and we have a ceiling lamp for eating.
