Product details

Collected from the mineral-rich slopes of the famous Mount Aso volcano in Japan, Fluval Stratum is the ideal substrate to promote the growth of aquatic plants in freshwater aquariums.

Plant roots easily penetrate the substrate and spread out, allowing plants to access a variety of important, readily available nutrients that help them thrive. The addition of Fluval Plant Micro Nutrients ensures a complete supply of essential macro and micronutrients. The lightweight, non-compacting, porous structure of the substrate is also highly beneficial for nitrifying bacteria, which quickly colonize the vast porous surface and provide optimal water quality for plants.

The inherent properties of Fluval Stratum support a neutral to slightly acidic pH, making it ideal for most plant species as well as for tropical fish or shrimp typically kept in planted aquariums. Fluval Stratum also provides newborn shrimp with the perfect refuge, allowing them to escape predators until they are large enough to emerge.

This highly attractive substrate does not discolor water and helps control organic discoloration that typically occurs when using natural driftwood.

Key Features:

  • Mineral-rich volcanic soil
