Uses a lot of battery
We needed it to feed a cat for four days. However, when we came home it had not turned to the fourth plate (for the last days food) the battery symbol of the display of the Cat mate was blinking indicating low battery and the unit was also in Off mode. I turned it on and I tried to set the time 10 minutes in advance to see if it would turn at least one more time, but it didn't.
The batteries I used were all new and of the brand Duracell. The batteries has a self test to see how much power is left and when pressing it shows half full.
Not sure if it is our unit, or what went wrong, but I do not feel very confident using this product if it is important the cat gets food. It shouldn't drain three batteries in only a few days, by basically doing nothing than keeping the time and turning a plastic plate four times.Pro

It takes ages to set or adjust the thing and it's a pain. It should also be borne in mind that the battery life display is worth nothing, at least in our case. From the beginning it said half-full, although I inserted new batteries, now they are apparently still OK after months and the display remains at half-full...
But once set, the machine works absolutely reliably.
It turns rather loudly, I would have expected it to be quieter at least. Fortunately, we all got used to it very quickly.
It should also be noted that if it says somewhere that there are 5 compartments, there are actually only 4, as one is always open and the 5th compartment only makes sense if the animal is allowed to eat immediately!
We misunderstood this and would often be happy to have the 5th compartment.
The compartments are quite large, so you can fill them properly for a small cat.

Very practical device
We have had two of them for a while and they still work perfectly.
One runs a little faster in time so we have to reset it regularly otherwise they don't open at the same time.
Our two new young cats can crack the vending machines because the lock is not so tight! But a rubber band around it helps.Pro
