Question about SureFeed Microchip automatic feeder

I had ordered the food bowl with a motion sensor. But it seems to have problems recognising dark or black cats. Is this also the case with the microchip version?

We have 2 cats, one dark and the other lighter. No problem with either. Sensor reacts to the chip and not to the colour or brightness.
