We have been looking for a suitable kettle for a long time, with the following criteria: Precise temperature control (maximum 5° steps), at least 0.75L volume and maximum 1500W power consumption (due to low fuse protection in old building flat). Unfortunately, this cooker seems to be the only one that meets all these criteria... But the high price (150 CHF for a kettle?!) made us hesitate.
In the end, we bought it, and I don't regret it in the least! The quality of the appliance is top-notch. It doesn't have a minimum filling quantity, because the heating element is built flat into the base. So you can only boil as much water as you need. The lack of a heating coil inside also means that the appliance is much easier to clean than the cheap M-Electronics kettle for CHF 10 that we had before. The hold function is super practical: when making coffee, pour in the water first, confirm by pressing the button, and when you're done with the rest of the preparations, the water is at the perfect temperature. While boiling, the boiling sounds remain low (much quieter than the high-frequency hissing of our previous cooker). And lastly, when pouring, the water flows perfectly out of the spout, without any static attraction.
There is really only one negative point apart from the price: At low temperature (e.g. 80° for green tea), the control often overshoots the target temperature by several degrees, whereupon the water has to cool down first. This is rather weak for a device in this price range, but is hardly a limitation in everyday use. You just have to wait a little longer.
Conclusion: For an appliance that you use almost every day, it is worth buying a good quality appliance. With the previous kettle, I was annoyed every day by the feel, the mess when pouring the water, the short cable and the tedious cleaning. The Fellow kettle, on the other hand, is a joy to use every day, even after a year! (And if you're bored, you can play Snake on the round display thanks to the Easter Egg...)
(Now I've not only spent CHF 150 on a kettle, but also written a 300-word review about it.... My goodness, I must be getting old...)

Why doesn't the thing beep briefly when it's ready? My old cooker at least clicked loudly once when it was ready. You don't hear anything here. There is a hold function, but for the impatient who want the water straight away, there is only one option: stand in front of it and watch the display. And the display is really bad. It's only easy to read if you stand right in front of it, without an oblique angle. I can't recommend it.
Now I thought I could use the baseplate from the "EKG-Pro" version with my boiler (buy it on ebay or something), because it beeps and has a good display - but it's not compatible with this boiler, even though it looks identical. I am confused.
So I decide to buy the complete "Corvo Pro". But it's only available with 110 volts for USA/Canada. So not compatible for our sockets. Great.
Now I've bought the "Stagg Pro" with a narrow grommet for the European mains instead. But it's only available in all black, so I bought the wooden handle set from somewhere else. Turns out: The wooden handle set is only compatible with the standard version, not with the Pro version. But they both look the same. I'm confused again.
In addition, the "Stagg Pro" has a bug with the temperature display and there is an update that simply won't install itself. The bug has existed for more than four months, documented here: https://www.reddit.com/r...
I am very surprised how a company with such a high margin can have relatively low quality standards. And I can already see it coming: the cookers won't last long, they have too many bells and whistles that can break. The components don't look that high quality to me.
Bottom line: I spent €397 on two kettles and wooden handles that look nice but don't live up to the price. I feel ripped off AND decadent.
Galaxus has taken the kettle back, thank you for your goodwill.

for a designer kettle, it's a shame it doesn't have a Swiss plug.
