Had previously the "Stadler Form Oskar big" and with the Venta I am much happier. Cleaning is much easier because it doesn't have so many corners and edges. You don't have to buy filters all the time, which keeps the long-term costs down and reduces waste. I refill the water only once a day, with the Oskar much more often, because it only has a 6L capacity and because it sucks up less water when the water level is low. With the Venta, the plate is rotated and this is less of a problem.
Example comparison with the "popular" Stadler Form Oskar big:
Device costs: approx. 189.-
Filter costs: 1 month: 16.50, 6 months: 99.- (filters cost 33.-, officially change every 2 months. With me it was necessary after 1 month, because the filter became hard and took up less water and then the performance was worse... but let's stay with the official indication.... )
Power consumption measured (stage 1-4): 8W / 12W / 19W / 29W
With the Venta LW45:
Device costs: approx. 374.-
Hygienic agent: 1 month: 3.80, 6 months: 22.80 (19.- for 500ml, you need 50ml every 2 weeks, that's enough for about 5 months. )
Power consumption measured (level 1-3): 2.5W / 4.5W / 6.5W
The extra cost should be recovered pretty quickly.
The humidification performance seems to be about the same in my experience. I ran the Oskar at level 3 and the Venta at level 2 to maintain my desired humidity. (So are 19W vs 4.5W).
Edit:
Have since noticed that even level 1 is enough for me to maintain the desired humidity. So it is now even quieter and more economical on the road.

I bought it for my 54 m2 apartment to be sure that it is enough as the sepcs say it is designed for a 80 m2 apartment. After more than 10 days of continuous working (even some nights in auto mode and not in sleep mode which has reduced performance), it has difficulty to reach to the set level of 55%. The humidity is usually between 42 to 48% and almost never reaches to 55%.
At first it may seem to be more appropriate than the HEPA air purifiers, but one need to add the hygiene liquid every two weeks which is much worse than buying a HEPA filter every 6 months or every year!
The machine is extremely expensive as well for what it contains and offers. All cheap plastic pieces plus a humidity sensor and an electric motor for the fan...
We already have a small Venta - basically a great product - however, I find the comfort plus story as it ust totally superfluous... the display of the humidity of the device never agrees with the measurement of a hygrometer in the room - so I now set quasi 70% as a target, so that the Venta does not suddenly stop working... the Sleep button I had nir such better imagined... there you can also simply "switch down"... a lot of money for little technical progress- too bad, I would have liked to do something else with the money ...

Many complain about the noise level of this unit. But I say
- Level 1 is quieter than my PC
- Level 2 is quieter than my children
- Level 3 is quieter than . . . hmmm . . . I'd better not write that.

We use three LW45s for a 170 m2 office and thus have a very good humidity.
