Xiaomi Smart Humidifier 2
Xiaomi Smart Humidifier 2
The humidifier alone would be a full five star: good design, it's well made and robust, very silent, very easy to clean, and finally quite powerful for its size.
Now for the "smart" part:
1. the app requires so many permits that the only more intrusive humidifying solution that I can think of is to employ a chinese secret service agent to spray me with water while I work. Luckily, at least for the apple store app, you can remove most permissions after setting up the device.
2. the "keep constant humidity" feature does not work in relatively small rooms. The algorithm is simple: humidifier stays on the max level until it reaches the desired humidity, then switches to the minimum level (rather than turning off) - in a loop. Problem is that, as mentioned, the device is pretty powerful so if the minimum level is enough to keep a humidity level higher than desired, it will merrily keep going on taking your room to "tropical jungle" humidity. Sure, you could use the scheduling feature to obtain roughly the same thing, but...
3. the schedule feature only works if both app and device are connected. As far as I can see, you cannot send the schedule to the device side and disconnect. My wifi turns off at night and this means that the schedule is not respected because the app will not be able to turn off the device.
So, considering that I bought a "smart" device exactly for 2 and 3, I'm rather disappointed. OTOH, If you don't care for the "smart" part, it's a very good humidifier.

Great unit with unplanned light cooling effect from cold water vapour.
Don't be alarmed if you are using a Xiaomi Air Purifyer at the same time. It then suddenly displays a high room pollution level of over 160. The Purifyer misinterprets the humidity particles of the Air Humidifyer.

The devices have a good value for money. It can be controlled via Xiaomi Home and Alexa.

v1 has an electric valve, v2 regulates with a mechanical float.
This version (v2) has LED UV irradiation, v1 has a steam lamp.
i guess the LED is more efficient, the steam lamp more effective. this is also due to the construction, the lamp is washed around, the LED only washed over.
With both versions, the automatic setting is weak. it can only select between 33%, 66% and 100%. by switching, any setting in between can also be achieved over a period of time. But just not below 33%
There is a workaround: if it is expected that 33% would be too much power:
You can set times when the unit switches on and off. For example, if you set the unit to run for only 20 minutes per hour, you have reduced the effective power range from 33-100% to 11-33%.
In general, it should be noted that any residues from the water are dispersed in the air. I am not worried about germs, but mineral residues could be unhealthy depending on the water quality.
