My 7 dl cup with a height of 12 cm just fits underneath, which should be big enough for most people.
Pads might work, the plunger is not designed for that, but it might work anyway. I recommend fresh ground coffee ;D

Esj94 is right - 12.5 cm max. free access. With some tilting, even more and without drip tray, 16 cm space.
A separate strainer for pods is not included - for pods, De Longhi Dedica, which comes with a strainer for pods, will do.
