Why should an extension cable not be used for the power supply (according to the operating instructions)?
As already mentioned, a good cable is important, but even more important, an air conditioner should only be used directly in a wall socket, no extensions, no power strips. The units draw quite a lot of current and the exhaust hoses are only about 1.5 to 2 m long. Since it has to go out of the window, a place away from the sun is more suitable. And if the cool air needs to be transported further, a room air circulator is recommended, which can then transport the air further.
Because such an air conditioner requires a lot of electricity over a long period of time. If an extension cable with a small cross-section is used, or even worse, one that is still half rolled up in or on a cable reel, then the fire hazard is very high.
