Great, but claimed widths not accurate
Just looking at these tires you can see how precisely they are molded compared to any thing from Schwalbe. But one thing you should know is the claimed widths are not accurate, nor are they the same as the GP4000 series.
The 28mm version is considerably narrower than it's predecessor, the GP4000 28-622. 28mm GP4000 measured 29.8mm wide on my (21mm internal width) rims, and this 28mm GP5000 measured 26.5mm on the same rim at the same pressure. Granted, the GP4000 was used, and the GP5000 brand new. It might stretch out a little over time, but I cannot imagine it will ever reach 28mm. Flattened out, the casing of the GP5000 is 8mm narrower than the GP4000. I am tempted to order the 32mm version and see if it's similar to the GP4000 28mm...
Update: I odered the 32mm version. Its width on the same rim is 30.0mm... so about the same width as the GP4000 28-622. It is however about 1.2mm taller than the GP 4000 28-622... Something to be aware of if you are attempting to replace you old 28mm GP4000s.
Luckily for me the additional height of the GP5000 32-622 still fits in my frame, and it seems to be a good replacement for the GP4000 28-622 for those of us looking for wider tires.
On a side note, I am replacing a GP4000 due to a small tear in the casing, that probably came from riding on a somewhat rocky dirt road... and I doubt the GP5000 is any tougher, so even though they are wide, I don't recommend using these tires if your main goal is to ride on gravel... For me, as a road tire roughly paved country roads with a lot of cattle grates, they are super.Pro
