Very capable device, with some performance issues.

An expected "summer 2020" firmware update might cure some of the above shortcomings.

All in all, I would warmly recommend this unit - the pros are by far outweighing the cons in MHO.

    Pro

    • Bright, sunlight readable WVGA display, (5”, 800 x 480 pixels)
    • The provided Li-Ion battery delivers up to 16 hours of operation - 3xAA an option
    • Open Street Maps compatibility, routable maps can be downloaded for free.
    • Very sensitive GPS receiver (GPS + GLONASS with WAAS/EGNOS)
    • Tons of functionality normally not found on street navs
    • Pushbutton (backlit) control as opposed to touch controls - inherited from the older 276C
    • Configurability of Display fields

    Contra

    • Slow search function when using OSM maps
    • Battery/power monitoring functions inconsistent
    • Charging of the provided Li-Ion battery is relatively slow - approx. 10%/hr - overnight charging.
    • Map redraw when zooming, or panning could be (much) faster, ok during normal driving
    • No routable maps included in std package.
    • Weight - on the heavy side

The best device of its kind I know, I am very satisfied with it.

I gave it a full five stars because it deserves them. It would take too long to describe the positive aspects, so I'll give a brief critique. In times of touchscreens, operation via buttons takes a lot of getting used to, but can be mastered easily after some time and practice. Depending on the desired level of map detail, the charging process can take a while. Sometimes after the battery has been charged, the device hangs and has to be rebooted.
