    Beautiful, but flawed

The jump rope failed nearly immediately, with the "bearings" (which are not actual bearings) that fit into the handles and guide the rope both failing out. They are a loose press fit with metal against wood with an adhesive responsible for holding them in place. The adhesive was clearly pushed out during assembly and therefor failed. The bearing was also painted before assembly so that the small amount of adhesive that was between the bearing and the wood was adhered to the paint, which readily failed.

Overall completely non-functional after only one or two uses.

    Looks fancy, but hardly usable

As a strength athlete, I've been using jump rope for years as a warm-up or a loose cool-down.
Thus, I jump cumulatively at least 45 minutes per week.

Since my previous jump rope unfortunately tore through, with which I
was very satisfied, I was faced with the decision "new model" or "repair existing".
I decided to buy a new model because the skipping rope from Kettler was shown to me as an advertisement.

The package is very minimalist and there is a small instruction manual on how to shorten the rope.

What immediately stands out is the smell of the wooden handles which is very pleasant.

However, I already noticed that it feels too soft and has no varnish at all. I let a few drops of water drip on it and saw that it was just absorbed by the wood. Oh jee... how will these things probably smell when there are sweaty hands constantly.

What struck me from the beginning, was the very thin rope, which has only 2mm diameter. I had to measure myself because it is nowhere described, not even at Kettler itself. 2mm for a skipping rope is unfortunately absolutely not suitable to be considered a speed rope. If you start to turn faster, the rope loses stability through this thin rope and it comes to a stop.

In addition, the rope can only be shortened by means of one-way. So you have to shorten the rope with side cutters. If you cut off too much, that's it.

In addition, the handles are hollow and the metal pieces contained therein which hold the rope always fly out of the handle during transport.

The ball bearings themselves are much too large for the thin rope and also leaks grease.

For me, unfortunately, a failed product. For beginners too unsafe for professionals too "slow".

Unfortunately, I can not return it now because I have already cut it to size.

I advise against a purchase from here

    • The wood smells pleasant (fresh)
    • Sustainable

    Contra

    • Rope can not be adjusted variably in length
    • If you cut off too much that was it
    • The "rope holders" are loose in the handle
    • The ball bearings lose grease
    • Rope is too thin for a speedrope
    • 2mm rope, unsuitable with this type of ball bearing
    • The wooden handles absorb moisture
