I would be interested to know if this is the new business model.
Selling truths that you can't deliver, but you still have to pay for them.

Good and reliable sensor. On the one hand, the correct installation according to the operating instructions must be observed, otherwise the reliability will be gone. On the other hand, it is better to bury the cables and cover exposed parts with a sensible sheathing material - not only to avoid damage from tripping and lawnmowers, but also because exposed cables attract martens and the replacement of the cable becomes expensive, that of the whole device even more expensive if the plug stub is bitten into. Contrary to another reviewer, we do not support the statement that batteries cannot be used - this has worked perfectly with this sensor and all other Gardena devices for years.

Sometimes I have the feeling that the sensor does not measure reliably, even though I have followed all the instructions. What I find really annoying, however, is that rechargeable batteries are prohibited according to the operating instructions. I even contacted Gardenasupport to verify this. Answer: "We recommend alkaline batteries for our soil moisture sensor, as the function has been tested with these. With rechargeable batteries, we cannot assess the state of charge and charge cycles of the battery you are using and therefore cannot make a recommendation."
To rely only on disposable batteries in this day and age I find appallingly backward.

We were on holiday for 8 weeks and wanted to water part of our garden with the computer and this sensor. However, the sensor had no influence on the water flow. Even in constant rain, the sensor did not prevent the computer from running water.
