Has anyone had any experience with cats or other pets? I don't always want to be woken up at night when a cat enters the room ;)

We have 3 cats. Because the sensor can be attached by means of a magnet, I placed it in the door frame of the bedroom. The height is high enough that only humans can trigger the sensor. The angle is also super easy to adjust.

I do not have any concrete experience with animals. But I can say that you can adjust the trigger sensitivity. It is set to "High" by default, but can also be set to "Medium" and "Low". I could well imagine that cats do not trigger unless they walk 10 cm in front of the detector. You can also set from when to when the detector should be active, but if you want to use a night light, this won't do you much good unless you always wake up at exactly the same time. :) I think, however, that if you switch the light to night light when there is activity, that is not enough to wake you up.
