Lego at is Best
The crane consists of 2800 stones (ungrad) and 1400 of them are only these pins. Big ones and small ones, too, are priced at about 1-2 centimes per piece......that means 1400 * .02 Fr. = 28.00Francs. Now you pay about 498.- for 1400 parts that are not pins. Just to help you buy ;)

People who don't have it will keep crying
All flagship Technic models are overpriced at their MSRP price. But currently you can get it at ~450chf and that is a fantastic offer. Price per piece might be higher than on previous models but you get many big big pieces. What I hated about 9800 or the Big Red Crane were trash pieces that were added just to increase piece count (9800 had a bag of 100 pieces to simulate gravel, haven't even opened that...). Here you don't have that - you get a respective amount of great, big chunks of plastic. The construction is sturdy and final product looks fantastic. Managed to build it in about 15 hours. I really had my doubts when I read all the negative reviews, but I'm really happy that I ignored those and got this wonderful piece.

Magnificent crane
Superb model and really fun to build. The instructions are clear, the number of bricks is adequate for assembly over a snowy weekend and the motors are tested in stages during assembly. This avoids unpleasant surprises such as having to start all over again because you've connected the motors incorrectly.
I had a lot of fun doing it.
