How can I say this now without slipping into sarcasm? The whole of Europe is preparing to save energy this winter... The less electricity we use, the better. An oil-fired power plant is being built in Birr that will burn several tank cars full of oil every day, room temperatures are being reduced everywhere, and so on. And here comes the special offer: an electric blanket. This is so incredibly short-sighted!

I disagree. An electric blanket uses very little electricity, and it regulates itself after a certain time or switches itself off. If you heat your living room less with the electric blanket, you save a lot of energy because the electric blanket only has a very local effect instead of heating the whole room.

It should also be noted that there are people who use such blankets for therapeutic purposes, e.g. for neuralgia, aching limbs, etc. I don't know what I would do without them. It is also more energy efficient than boiling water in the kettle every 2 hours for a bed bottle, which never has the same effect.
