Android tablets are the future of computing, says Google
Google has a tablet division again. A newly sought manager of this division is supposed to create a seamless Android experience.
Android tablets are not dead, and iPads are not the undisputed leader of the tablet market. Two things say that:
- The statistics. 59.3 percent of tablets in Germany with an Internet connection run on Android. The rest of the market - 40.7 percent - is made up of iPads.
- Google.
Tech conglomerate Google launched an initiative "sometime last year" to deal with Android tablets, according to 9to5Google. Google is now looking for a senior engineering manager for this newly created division.
Google believes, according to the job ad, that the future of computing is shifting. Away from smartphones, laptops and computers and toward "strong and capable tablets." These tablets are expected to offer seamless support across all Google platforms and so-called "Hero Experiences" that will reveal new and better ways to be productive and creative.
It's not known what software this new division will work with. The choices at the moment are Android, Android 12 L and Fuchsia, which could one day replace Android. Or the division will develop its own Android.
