Apple AirTag: nothing to lose
Apple wants to help your search. With AirTags you don’t have to search for a long time, you’ll find your keys, wallet or backpack immediately.
The principle of Apple AirTag is easily explained: you place the small receiver/transmitter on the item you keep misplacing and want to find quickly. Your iPhone finds the AirTag pendant via Bluetooth and another wireless technology - Ultra Wide Band - and shows you the way with Apple's «Find my» service. On maps, but also through directional arrows on your smartphones display.
Found not lost
The idea behind AirTag isn’t new. Tile has been offering tags with similar functions for years. Samsung jumped on the bandwagon in 2020. Now Apple is incorporating them into its ecosystem as a gadget. Of course, with matching accessories and there is a luxury version in collaboration with Hermès.
The AirTags are dust and water resistant according to IP67. The CR2032 battery is said to last over a year and can be changed by anyone.
As with all Apple products, setup on iOS is supposed to be very simple. Apple also emphasises data protection. Only you should be able to find your items - and if you ask the community for help, no one will know. What’s more: the AirTag is for objects, not people. This means stalkers shouldn’t be able to use them for surveillance.
You can design the engraving on the AirTag according to your wishes. We’re still waiting for detailed information on availability. In the U.S. the offer starts in May and one AirTag costs 29 dollars, four cost 99 dollars.
