Asus presents ProArt StudioBook One with Nvidia Quadro RTX 6000
Asus is presenting the new ProArt ecosystem at IFA, which is aimed at professionals who need a lot of computing power. This includes what is probably the fastest commercial notebook currently available: the ProArt StudioBook One with an Nvidia Quadro RTX 6000.
The StudioBook One is designed to enable 3D animation, photorealistic product design and 8K video editing on the go. At the heart of the notebook is an Nvidia Quadro RTX 6000.
Yes, you read that right: A GPU costing just under 5000 francs or 4000 euros is actually at work in the StudioBook One. According to Nvidia, the graphics card in the notebook should have similar specifications to the desktop version. However, as it is the Max-Q version, it will probably offer less clock speed. For comparison: the desktop version of the Quadro RTX 6000 has 4608 Cuda cores, 567 Tensor cores and 72 RT cores; an RTX 2080 Ti has just 4352 Cuda cores, 544 Tensor cores and 68 RT cores.
Nvidia and Asus have developed a special cooling system so that so much computing power can deliver the desired performance in a notebook. The GPU is installed behind the display and an "open vent design" ensures airflow. Fresh air is drawn in from below and expelled upwards by fans. Instead of copper, the manufacturers use titanium, which is lighter and has similar cooling properties.
An Intel Core i9-9980H processor with 2.4 GHz, 32 GB DDR 2666 MHz RAM, a 1 TB NVMe SSD and a 15-inch 4K UHD display with 120 Hz are also installed. Asus has not yet commented on how expensive it is and when exactly it will be available.
From big data to big brother, Cyborgs to Sci-Fi. All aspects of technology and society fascinate me.
