Baby Brezza Formula Pro Advanced review

Is a baby formula dispenser worth investing in? Yes and no say my friends who put the Baby Brezza Formula Pro Advanced to the test.

A crib, muslin cloths, rattles, a radiant heater for the changing table... The list of items you could get a new mum or dad is long. Is it just me or does the list keep getting longer? At least I don’t remember seeing a machine that heats baby bottles when I was a kid. Not a fully automatic one in any case. So when my co-worker asked me if I knew anyone who’d be up for testing the Baby Brezza Formula Pro Advanced, I didn’t know what it was for. Turns out, it’s a gadget to bring bottles of baby formula to the perfect temperature at the touch of a button. The appliance mixes milk powder and water without you having to prepare anything beforehand and it’s fast at what it does.

Well, I happen to know the perfect family for this test. They have triplets and little Marlon, who’ll be two this summer. He likes to drink lots of milk at night and keeps his mum on her toes.

Hi Anita, what made you want to test the Baby Brezza Formula Pro Advanced when I asked you?

Pure curiosity! I’d heard quite a lot about these gadgets that prepare bottles automatically and wanted to find out if they’re useful or rubbish.

What was your first impression when you got the device?
As you already know, the fact that it wasn’t equipped with a German plug was a bit of a bummer. Other than that, I just thought, here’s another machine taking up space in our kitchen. Sure, it’s not huge, but it’s not tiny, either.

We’re really happy with how it looks. It’s chic and modern. It’s actually a shame it only does baby bottles. Not least considering the space it requires.

Swiss plugs don’t work in Germany

Then there was that problem with the plug. My colleagues who are in charge of the products in our range and I must’ve been distracted. Otherwise, we would’ve thought of the fact that Swiss plugs don’t work in Germany. However, the family soon solved the problem by using an adapter.

How did setting up the Baby Brezza Pro Advanced go?
It was super easy! And using it’s a doddle, too. All you need to do is set the quantity you want and press the button.

Galaxus sent you the gadget in January and it’s March now. How has it been working out for you? Do you still use it?
Yes, we do. It’s helped free up our kettle, that’s for sure. The device is nice to have, but I’d never go out and buy for that price.

«You just go to the kitchen, press a button, done»

What have the advantages of the Baby Brezza Pro Advanced been for you?
As I mentioned, I love the fact that we can use our kettle for other things again now. There’s no more mixing or measuring out water in the middle of the night. This is particularly handy when everyone’s dead tired. You just go to the kitchen, press a button, done. Of course, this is also really handy if someone’s babysitting, as they simply have to hit the button. We also like the wheels underneath the gadget. They make it easy to turn if you need to get to the water filter or the like.

What don’t you like about it?
After making four bottles, you need rinse out the container. That’s fine for one night with our eldest, Marlon. But if I had to do this for the triplets at night... I guess the machine wasn’t designed with multiple babies in mind.

The dispenser’s also quite loud, but we’ve got used to it. After filling it with fresh water or switching it on, it takes quite a long time to reach the right temperature. That’s why we’ve started to turn it on before we put Marlon to bed. And there’s another thing that bugs me. There’s a formula container at the top of the appliance with a maximum and minimum quantity limit. Frustratingly, the minimum quantity is already half the container. This bothers me because my inner Marie Kondo makes me wonder why I should refill the powder when there’s still so much inside. It’s also lacking a sensor that tells you when there isn’t enough in it. I find the price of the Baby Brezza too steep, as it really only does bottles of formula.

Would you recommend it to friends?
At most as a nice-to-have gadget. If you have the space and the spare cash, why not? Once you start using it, you probably won’t want to do without it. Oh, and it’s also worth pointing out that it’s really easy to clean.

In a nutshell

Not a must, but nice to have

My friends would recommend the appliance because it lives up to its promise and dispenses warm baby milk at the touch of a button. However, the Baby Brezza Formula Pro Advanced is expensive and has room for improvement.

Pro

  • Very easy to use

Contra

  • Needs to be cleaned after making four bottles
  • Preparing a bottle takes a very long time after changing the water or after switching it on
  • The powder container needs to be filled at least halfway to hit the minimum amount required
