Are your tweezers struggling to remove unwanted hairs? With the help of a nail file, blunt tweezers can easily get in top form.

Hold your breath, apply the tweezers and... Darn it, my eyebrow hair has just slipped through again. Blunt tweezers have driven me up the wall many times. To avoid aggressive self-talk in front of the bathroom mirror and still get your eyebrows in shape, there’s only one thing to do: sharpen the tweezers! Don’t worry, you don’t need a fancy tweezer sharpening device. The easiest way to do this is with a cheap, double-sided nail file, which you probably already have lying around somewhere. Ideally, one that’s not too coarse or too fine.

How it works

Put the file at a slight angle between the two legs of the tweezers. Then press the tweezers closed so that the two gripping tips are on each side of the file. Now pull the tweezers away quickly while continuing to hold them closed. If your tweezers are really blunt, you may have to do this a few times.

If your file is coarser on one side than on the other, you should turn the file over every now and again so that the tweezer tips are sanded to the same degree on both sides. Of course, you can also do this with folded sandpaper.

Be careful: don’t use expensive glass files for this, as you’ll almost certainly damage them. Plus, the sound will give you goosebumps...
