Bose withdraws Sleepbuds from the market
Bose wanted to tackle insomnia, but to no avail. The company is withdrawing its Sleepbuds from the market and offering an exchange campaign for affected users.
Bose is withdrawing its Sleepbuds from the market due to problems with incomplete battery charging and unexpected power-down in far too many users. According to Bose, these problems could not be resolved, and in some cases even worsened.
Sleepbuds are not conventional in-ear headphones, they can be worn at night to help the user fall asleep by sparing them from noise, that caused by a partner's snoring or lack of consideration from the neighbourhood. Sleepbuds are not used to play music, but soft, soothing sounds through the Bose app.
In recent days, the American manufacturer has informed registered customers by email of the possibility of receiving a full refund. If you're in this situation, you can register here their return until 31 December.
It's been over a year since Bose, according to their statement, has been repairing and/or replacing these failed earbuds. These have been subject to careful examination by a dedicated team.
I tested the earpieces just over a year ago and encountered no problems with the battery, although I was disappointed that the low volume of the battery did not allow me to listen to music. What's more, these headphones only have a noise-cancelling function - called noise masking by Bose - and not ANC. Still, let's praise Bose for wanting to tackle the insomnia problem!
Despite such a setback, the company is not giving up. John Roselli, CEO of Bose, affirms the company's commitment to the research and development of a comparable new product.
Testing devices and gadgets is my thing. Some experiments lead to interesting insights, others to demolished phones. I’m hooked on series and can’t imagine life without Netflix. In summer, you’ll find me soaking up the sun by the lake or at a music festival.
