Canon EOS 6D Mark II
26.20 Mpx, Full frame
Canon has a brand new, weather-protected SLR camera: the EOS 6D Mark II. The compact DSLR impresses with 26.2 megapixels and the best low-light properties. What else does it have to offer? Find out for yourself.
The EOS 6D Mark II impresses with its high image quality. In combination with the ISO settings, you can take photos and videos with details without noise. This means that at ISO 40,000, you won't have any image distortions or pixel errors and your image will impress with its detail and sharpness.
With the 26.2 megapixel full-frame sensor, you get very good image quality. This allows you to recognise the finest details in your pictures, even in very bright areas or dark shadows. Even in difficult lighting conditions, the image noise is very low. This means you can set up to 40,000 ISO and have very little grain, if any, in your pictures. The low-light properties of the EOS 6D Mark II are impressive. At up to 40,000 ISO, you can expect very little digital noise. This allows you to take high-quality photos with fine details even in difficult lighting conditions, such as in the evening. The ISO values can be extended up to a maximum of 102,400.
The large optical viewfinder makes it easier for you to compose your pictures. Current camera settings and exposure information are displayed in the viewfinder. This means you have everything in view without having to take your eyes off the subject. When shooting live images, the dual-pixel CMOS autofocus ensures that you can focus just as quickly as when focussing through the viewfinder. Moving subjects are tracked and focussed through the image, so you are guaranteed not to miss the perfect moment.
The EOS 6D Mark II easily handles full HD videos at 60 frames per second. Thanks to the integrated, electronic 5-axis image stabiliser, unwanted camera shake is avoided. Together with the dual-pixel CMOS autofocus, your video is continuously sharp. Want cool time-lapse videos in 4K? The 6D Mark II does this virtually on its own: it takes shots at predefined intervals and creates a time-lapse video from them. A time-lapse video looks particularly cool with movements or scenes that only change slowly.
45 autofocus points, all 45 of which are cross-type sensors, allow you to focus quickly and precisely. According to Canon, this even works with subjects that are only illuminated by moonlight. Automatic exposure optimisation also compensates for contrasts. You can shoot up to 6 images per second in continuous shooting mode.
The EOS 6D Mark II is dust and splash-proof. Compared to other SLR cameras, it is compact and lightweight, measuring 14.5 x 11.5 x 7.8 cm and weighing 765 g including battery. In combination with its weather resistance, you can take the 6D Mark II with you wherever you go and capture the best motifs.
With the 3-inch rotating and swivelling touchscreen, you can shoot quickly and from many angles. This makes it just as easy to take casual portraits as landscape shots from a bird's eye view. You can operate the touchscreen using gestures familiar from smartphones to control the focus and the shutter release. To see whether your picture is in focus in the right places, you can zoom in with simple finger movements.
You can establish a permanent, wireless connection between the camera and your smartphone via Bluetooth. You can also connect the EOS 6D Mark II to Wi-Fi - without even having to take it out of your bag. You can use the Canon Camera Connect App for this. This allows you to edit your pictures with your smartphone or tablet, share them with others or on social media and create a backup of your pictures. You can also view the camera image in real time on your smartphone, tablet, PC or Mac and control your recording remotely.
With GPS, you can tag each image with your position and the exact time you took it. You can use this saved information to write a travelogue, for example, and of course to track where you took the photo at any time.
