CES 2022: Intel unveils Alder Lake H mobile processors
Intel brings Alder Lake to notebooks. The CPUs offer up to 14 cores.
Flagship of the new Alder Lake H processors are the Intel Core i9-12900HK and i9-12900H. Both have a boost clock of up to 5.0 GHz. They come with 14 cores and 20 threads. Six of them are powerful P-cores and 8 of them are efficient E-cores. Alder Lake for notebooks is based on the hybrid processor design, just like the desktop variant.
The processor is supposed to be up to 54 percent faster in games and up to 44 percent faster in applications than the predecessor chip. The i9 and i7 processors are supposed to draw a maximum of 115 watts of power. Intel specifies the base power with 45 watts.
In contrast to the desktop processors, only PCIe 4.0 is supported, but also DDR5 RAM. Furthermore, up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, up to four USB 3.2 as well as Wifi 6E are integrated.

Further, Intel has also announced more frugal Alder-Lake P and U series. The P-series has a base power of 28 watts and the U-series has a base power of 15 or 9 watts. Further information is still missing and will follow at a later event.
The first notebooks with the new chips are expected in the next few months.
