The iconic game with its legendary high hardware demands will be relaunched. High-resolution textures and ray tracing, among other features, are added to «Crysis Remastered».

«But can it run Crysis?». It's the running gag of the game scene and yet the sentence still has some truth to it. The first-person shooter «Crysis» was for years the benchmark for games in terms of graphics and hardware. Even today, the game melts some PCs, but the reason for that is to do with the nature of the engine.

Now it seems that a remastered version of the 2007 shooter is in the making. This announcement was briefly posted on the website of the German developer studio Crytek. By the way, EA is the owner of the rights. The site has been taken offline again, but the pictures are spreading all over the internet already. One of the few known pieces of information is that «Crysis Remastered» will be released soon on PC, PS4, Xbox One and even the Switch. Among the new improvements are new graphic features, high resolution textures and ray tracing, which isn't supposed to depend on the hardware.

Are you looking forward to roaming the jungle and stalking monsters and North Korean soldiers in a Nanosuit again? I’m pretty sure my colleague Kevin has found his next game for his graphics card benchmarks.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
