A mere 33 million dollars is the estimated value of what’s probably the most expensive Easter egg in the world. Namely the third imperial egg from the house of Fabergé, also known as the watch egg. This precious piece is made of 18-carat yellow gold and has vertical grooves. Press on the large rose diamond pompously sitting at the front, and the top third of the egg opens to reveal a 14-carat gold ladies’ watch by Swiss luxury brand Vacheron Constantin. However, you’ll need pretty good eyesight for this creation by the jeweller from Saint Petersburg. The egg measures just 8.2 centimetres and that’s including the stand. What more could you want for that price?

A whopping 8,000 euros was shelled out for the gold-speckled egg back in 2012. Moulded from fine Italian chocolate and decorated with edible gold leaf, it’s considered the most expensive chocolate egg in the world. The sweet temptation was one metre and seven centimetres tall and 54 centimetres wide. It was filled with handmade chocolates and chocolate truffles and decorated with many small chocolate eggs, bars and white flowers. This choc bomb weighed an impressive 50 kilogrammes. Incidentally, seven chocolatiers from Great Britain and Japan were involved in designing it.

Wowza! Not the most expensive, but the largest chocolate Easter egg was on display at an Italian shopping centre in 2011. It was a chocking 19.6 metres tall! A dream made of sweet cocoa. The melt-in-the-mouth masterpiece weighed a massive 7,200 kilogrammes. With a calorie count of around 39,000,000, it’s probably not for fitness fanatics.

Ouch! The largest testicles in the world ever so far are Dan Maurer’s. Why are we mentioning this here? Because eggs is slang for testicles in many countries, including the German-speaking world. The «eggs» of this Michigan-based man weighed an excruciating 45 kilogrammes. This was no fun for Dan, who only managed 15 steps at a time because of them. The reason for this? A rare condition called scrotal elephantiasis, which caused his genitals to grow abnormally large. In the meantime, however, the man with the largest testicles has been able to have them surgically reduced.
Bring on the eggs!
