Direct-die water cooler from der8auer ensures cool temperatures for Ryzen 7000 processors
Overclocker and Youtuber Roman "der8auer" Hartung has developed his own water cooler. Compared to a 280 all-in-one water cooling system, an overclocked Ryzen 9 7900X runs up to 28 degrees Celsius cooler.
"Mycro Direct Die" is the name of the new direct-die water cooler from der8auer. It cools a Ryzen 9 7900X CPU overclocked to 5 GHz to 62 degrees Celsius. The same CPU gets 90 degrees Celsius with an all-in-one water cooling system from Asus with a 280 millimetre radiator surface. That's a huge difference. For this to be possible at all, you have to head the CPU.

The so-called Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) sits on top of the CPU. In simple terms, this is the metal cover of the CPU. On the one hand, it serves to protect the dies underneath - the unhoused parts of the semiconductor wafer. On the other hand, it helps with heat exchange between the CPU and the cooler. Overclockers often remove the IHS to cool the dies directly, which is more efficient.
So the Mycro Direct Die Cooler is not a product for everyone. It is for those who want to get the most out of a Ryzen 7000 CPU. der8auer has developed the cooler over the last few months. You can find out what challenges he had to contend with in his video.
Production is currently underway and the product is set to go on sale soon. In terms of price, der8auer is talking about 100 euros for a version without RGB and up to 140 euros for a version with flashing lights. If possible, the part will also be available from Digitec Galaxus.
