Disney+ launches in Germany on 24 March
Disney+ launches in Europe at the end of March. This is not new. What is new is that the start date has been brought forward and now officially applies to Germany. You can find all the information about the plan price and supported devices here.
Disney is bringing forward the start date of its in-house streaming service for Europe. Contrary to originally announced, Disney+ will be available from 24 March 2020 - also in Germany.
The price has also been confirmed: in Germany, Disney+ will cost 6.99 euros per month or 69.99 euros per year.
The highlight for many Disney fans: all the classics that the Walt Disney Corp. has stored in its bunker, the Disney Vault, will be available on the streaming service. This includes virtually all content from the Disney brands Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic.
Supported devices and resolution
From launch, you can watch Disney+ on almost all popular mobile devices and internet-enabled TVs via the official app - including games consoles and smart TVs.
- Apple (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Apple TV)
- Google (Android smartphones and tablets, Android TV devices and Google Chromecast)
- Microsoft (Xbox One)
- Sony (PlayStation 4 and Smart TVs)
- Amazon Fire
- LG
- Samsung
Support for other devices and smart TVs is being planned.
You don't need a more expensive additional subscription to unlock UHD resolution. A lot of content - especially content produced exclusively for the streaming service, called "Disney+ Originals" - will be available in Dolby Vision quality and support Dolby Atmos sound.

According to the press release, up to seven profiles can be created with one account, which can be used on up to four devices simultaneously. Parents also have the option of creating their own children's profiles, which offer child-friendly content. All content can be downloaded and viewed offline - for an unlimited time and on up to ten devices.
R-rated films and series - the equivalent of FSK16 or higher here - will not be available on Disney+. In the States, this content is available on Hulu, Disney's other streaming service. As Hulu is not available in Europe, its content will continue to be distributed on Netflix and Co.
