Dyson's new robot also vacuums the edges

Dyson's new robot hoover "360 Vis Nav" is supposed to clean better than a human. Unfortunately, we still have to wait until 2024 for it. A vacuum cleaner that also picks up damp will arrive sooner.
For a surprisingly long time, Dyson has shown little commitment to robotic vacuum cleaners. The Dyson 360 Vis Nav is now finally set to overtake the competition. However, the vacuum cleaner will not be available in Switzerland until 2024, while it will be launched in other countries such as the UK and Australia this year. An exact date for the other countries is still missing. And: at 1599 francs, it has a proud price tag.
But Dyson also wants to offer special features for this money. Chief engineer Jack Dyson explains in the pre-launch information: "Our aim is for the robot hoover to clean better than a human."

Dyson is tackling this in various areas. As with other top models, you first send the robot on an exploration tour of your home. The 360-degree vision system with fisheye lens creates a precise map of all the rooms. According to Dyson, the robot knows exactly where it is within 71 mm.
Cleaning with intelligence
The plan can be further refined on the app. Zones can be defined, such as individual rooms or areas that are completely off-limits to the robot. The cleaning can now be planned precisely: the living room and kitchen should be cleaned on Monday, the bedrooms on Tuesday and Wednesday and the entire flat on Friday morning. The Dyson can also be started by voice control via Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant.

The battery lasts up to 50 minutes, after which it is automatically charged at the docking station. Dyson promises that the entire cleaning process is intelligently controlled. For example, the robot only charges for as long as it needs for the rest of the cleaning programme.
The piezo sensor, already familiar from the cordless vacuum cleaners, continuously measures the concentration of particles and dust. The vacuum cleaner cleans more intensively in particularly dirty areas - and also remembers the areas for the next pass. A total of 26 sensors monitor cleaning and navigation.
The robot vacuums the edges separately
Edge cleaning is a special feature: Other robot hoovers have a rotating brush for the edges. As soon as the Dyson recognises an edge, it extends a side arm and the suction power is redirected to it. Thanks to the D-shaped design, the 360 Vis Nav should also get into corners well.

The hoover motor is said to have as much power as normal cordless hoovers - and therefore significantly more than normal robot hoovers. There is also a special brush with three types of bristles that can remove stubborn dirt from hard floors, but also picks up fine dust and penetrates deep into carpets.
The manufacturer guarantees Hepa filtration for the entire machine, even particles as small as 0.1 micrometres are picked up - such as animal hair or soot. However, the dust container must then be emptied by hand; there is no suction station as with the competition.
Damp pick-up while vacuuming
We don't have to wait that long for the second new vacuum cleaner in Switzerland. The V15s Detect Submarine will be launched in September for 949 francs. The Submarine is basically a normal V15 hoover, which we are already familiar with. But now it comes with a new attachment, namely a wet floor roller.

This innovation is for anyone who primarily has hard floors at home and likes to wet clean them rather than just vacuum them. The special feature: The Submarine roller also sucks up the dirty water again immediately.
The floor roller has an integrated 300 millilitre tank that is filled with water - according to Dyson, no cleaning agent is required. This is enough for a floor area of around 110 square metres.
The entire surface is then evenly moistened via eight nozzles and the microfibre roller cleans away dirt. The dirty water is immediately sucked back into a separate container. And: The Submarine can clean up spilt liquids.

The V15s Detect Submarine can of course also vacuum normally and is therefore intended as an all-in-one device. However, you cannot buy the special wet floor roller separately; it does not work with older models, only with the new version.
Air purification for large rooms
The third new product announced by Dyson for September is the Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde, which costs 999 francs. It follows on from the purifiers already available, but is intended for larger rooms up to 100 square metres. And despite its power, the most powerful air purifier to date should also be the quietest.
In maximum mode, it is said to be only 56 decibels. One of the ways Dyson achieves this is by ensuring that the sound waves from the compressor are directly absorbed by a specially shaped cavity.

The Purifier Big+Quiet has integrated Hepa class H13 particle filters. This is important to know for allergy sufferers, but Covid viruses are also absorbed. Incidentally, the filter should last up to five years before it needs to be replaced. Formaldehyde is also filtered out of the air. The health problematic gas escapes from plastics, but also from treated wooden furniture.
The air quality can be monitored at any time in the Dyson app. The improvement in air quality should also be visible here. Dyson also promises that its own air purifiers are tested more rigorously than the industry standard requires.
