End of support for Office 2010
The Office 2010 era is coming to an end. Today, Monday 13 October 2020, support for this Microsoft product is officially over.
10 years is the lifecycle of most Microsoft products. Support for Office 2010 ends today, 13 October 2020.
What does this mean?
Of course, Office 2010 will continue to work beyond this support. That said, as of today, there are no more software updates for bugs, no more patches, no more technical support in the event of difficulties.
Users are therefore exposed to all these things. For businesses, major inconveniences can arise: attacks, data loss, business disruption, or even, in the worst case, longer downtimes.
That's what we're talking about.
Until now, businesses could obtain Extended Security Updates (ESUs) from Microsoft for three years for a hefty price. In the case of Office 2010, however, this is no longer possible.
What happens now?
Soon or later, a switch to Office products such as Office 365 or Office 2019 will be essential, whether it is a Microsoft product or a competitor.
