Film surprise: "Der Schuh des Manitu" 2 is coming

"Das Kanu des Manitu" will be released in cinemas in 2025 after the mega-success of the first film "Der Schuh des Manitu". Michael "Bully" Herbig will direct again and return with his "Bullyparade" colleagues Christian Tramitz and Rick Kavanian as actors.
The news comes as a surprise. 24 years after the mega box office hit "Der Schuh des Manitu", a sequel will be released in cinemas in 2025. This was announced by Michael "Bully" Herbig himself on his Instagram account. "Das Kanu des Manitu" will be the sequel to the "Winnetou" parody. "Bully" is once again directing the film and is also returning as an actor. He will also be joined by his congenial colleagues Christian Tramitz and Rick Kavanian. The three of them will also contribute the screenplay.

"Der Schuh des Manitu" originated from a series of sketches from "Bullyparade". This was a German comedy show that was broadcast on ProSieben from 1997 to 2002. In 2001, the adventure of Abahachi, Ranger and Dimitri became a huge cinema success. With almost twelve million cinema tickets sold, "Der Schuh des Manitu" is still one of the most successful German films of all time.
New humour in part 2?
Shooting is set to begin this year. In addition to Herbig and the distributor Constantin Film, the broadcaster RTL is also involved this time as a co-producer. Content details are not yet known. Nor whether other actors from the first part will return or who might join the cast. However, Herbig hinted on the radio Bremen talk show "3 nach 9" in 2022 that he would not make the first part the same way today as he did back then.
The comedy police have become so strict.
It takes away a bit of the artist's innocence and freedom, Herbig continued. At the same time, he emphasised that he thinks some developments are "totally right". So we can look forward to seeing what changes await us.
"Der Schuh des Manitu" can currently be seen on Joyn Plus+, Paramount+ and MagentaTV or via video-on-demand on Apple TV and Blue TV in Switzerland, among others.
