Find the right product even faster

created on 16.11.2018

Our shop is still decorated with a beta logo. This is to emphasise that we still have a long way to go. But don't let that fool you: We have 17 years of experience in guiding every customer to the right product.

Last week, I introduced you to our filters. They are the tool of choice for quickly narrowing down the variety of products. A great feature for fans of drill-down searches and customers who already know what they are looking for.

Quickly find the right product with the filter

With the filter, you can quickly narrow down the products in question from hundreds to dozens. But wait - our shop can do even more!

Quick overview or detailed comparison

As an example, I'll use headphones because that's where I know my way around best. I used a filter to pick out all over-ears with Bluetooth. Our range is not yet huge, there is still a lot missing. I immediately miss the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless and the new Sony WH-1000XM3. But at least you can already choose from 27 different models. There are some solid devices included.

What next? My wife would now open 27 tabs to compare the products with each other. In her browser, a shopping trip on Galaxus looks like this:

Heaven forbid, how are you supposed to remember which product is in which tab? And how can you reasonably compare the features? Exactly.

We have developed a solution for both problems. To curb the tab orgy, there's the product slideshow. To compare features and specifications, there's the product comparison. You will find both features as soon as you have landed on a product type - such as printers, graphics cards or headphones.

The product slideshow

In the slideshow, products are presented to you in large format. You get a good impression of what it looks like. The most important features of each product are summarised briefly. Without having to open a fantastillion browser tabs.

Great, isn't it? But it gets even better!

The product comparison

Nerds like me don't give a damn about looks. For me, what the headphones look like is secondary, the main thing is that they do what I want them to do. That's what the product comparison is for.

For display reasons, this function is only available if you want to compare 20 or fewer products. That's why I've narrowed down our headphone selection once again to models with noise cancelling. That's 14 of them left.

Live Demo

The great thing about it is that you can compare all models in detail in the product comparison. In the case of headphones, you can immediately see which model supports which codec (AAC, aptX, LDAC). You can see at a glance which one only lasts 16 hours and which one only runs out of breath after 30 hours.

Second example: Notebooks. We are still at the beginning with our range. We only have 362 different notebooks on sale. I already find that unmanageable. Acer alone offers a huge number of series. I can still imagine something under "Travelmate". But who can distinguish between "Aspire", "Spin", "Swift", "Extensa" and "Predator"? And dozens of variants of each model. They've got one up their sleeve.

I limit the selection to models with the latest processor generation - and it immediately becomes clear what each model is intended for.

This is how purchasing professionals do it! Just hope I'm more successful at communicating the features to you than to my esteemed spouse. <p
