Fitbit Versa 2 presented: Alexa on your wrist and more sleep info

Fitbit has integrated Amazon's voice assistant Alexa into its latest wearable. The Versa 2 smart sports watch not only listens to you, but has also been given new sleep functions and serves as a Spotify remote control.
With the Versa 2's microphone, Alexa hears your instructions and can start Fitbit exercises or give you information about the nearest gym. In the absence of a speaker, the answers appear silently on the AMOLED display, which Fitbit has enlarged slightly compared to its predecessor. Alexa is not only at your side during sport, but also in everyday life. Among other things, you can set alarms and timers, check personal messages and the weather or control smart home devices.
The considerate alarm clock
The Fitbit Versa 2 comes with many new functions for the night. These include a sleep index, which rates your night with a number based on factors such as heart rate at rest and sleep, restlessness, waking states and sleep phases, and "Smart Wake". The alarm function attempts to "wake you up at a biologically optimal time". This is why the wake-up time has a variance of 30 minutes to find a light sleep or REM phase. The function is set to come to all Fitbit smartwatches "soon".

Sleep Mode ensures that the Versa 2 remains switched off at night and can also be used during the day, for example at the cinema or theatre. In addition, a diagram in the Fitbit app will "soon" indicate fluctuations in breathing during sleep.
Another new feature is the ability to control Spotify music playback on the Fitbit Versa 2. Unlike Deezer or for MP3 files, however, there is no offline function for the streaming service. The wireless payment function is now available in all variants of the wearable. In the predecessors, it was reserved for the Special Edition. This is now only characterised by colour variants and a second wristband included in the scope of delivery.
Fitness tracker and sports watch
You can customise the appearance of the touchscreen and install apps on the Fitbit Versa 2. The wearable with aluminium housing is said to be "water-repellent" up to a depth of 50 metres. It displays notifications from the smartphone and its battery should last for at least four days. However, GPS data is only available to the Versa 2 when it is connected to a smartphone. Of course, the Versa 2 - like its predecessors - counts your steps, measures your heart rate, calculates calories burned and records floors climbed, distance travelled and active minutes. It also features automatic activity recognition and automatic sleep recording. As a woman, you can also use the Fitbit app and the Versa 2 to log your period and keep an eye on your cycle based on other data.
Price and availability
The Fitbit Versa 2 will be available from 15 September and costs 199.95 euros. The Special Edition with a second wristband will cost 229.95 euros. Fitbit has not yet announced prices in francs for Switzerland. <p

When I was but a young student, I'd sit in my friend's living room with all my classmates and play on his SuperNES. Since then I've had the opportunity to test out all the newest technology for you. I've done reviews at Curved, Computer Bild and Netzwelt, and have now arrived at Galaxus.de.
