Garmin launches "Clipboard", a new app for running groups
Garmin is targeting running teams. The smartwatch company has launched the "Clipboard" app. It allows members of a running group to share their progress and create training plans and appointments.
As a runner, you know that the motivation for your next training session is higher if you are part of a group with fixed dates. The will to stick to an agreement to run with another person is usually stronger than your inner bastard. Running groups meet at lunchtime to jog around the office or in the evening to train together for a triathlon.
Regardless of the level and aspirations of the runners, Garmin has an interesting offer with its "Clipboard" app. As the trainer of a group, it is possible to inform all members of the next training dates. They can then import these directly into their private calendars. Training sessions can be allocated individually because the coach can see the information on the current performance level of their group in the app.
"Clipboard" enables free training programmes
Gamification elements are also installed in the app. As a runner, you can set yourself goals and collect virtual awards when you achieve them. The "Clipboard" app was previously only available in the USA, but has now been rolled out globally. Garmin is thus closing a gap on sales from other fitness companies. Polar has the "Polar Flow" ecosystem and Coros has the "Training Hub". The "Training Peaks" service is a firm favourite on the market, regardless of the individual manufacturer. However, the training plans are subject to a charge. The new "Clipboard" app from Garmin, on the other hand, is free of charge.
And runners who do not train with a Garmin watch can also be part of a running group organised in the Clipboard app. The prerequisite is that they have installed the "Garmin Connect" app and synchronise their activities that they have recorded with other watches or with Apple "Health" in this app.
