Honor Magic 4 Pro presented: Wide-angle camera as good as main camera
Honor presented the Magic 4 and 4 Pro at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The top smartphone charges wirelessly pretty darn fast and its wide-angle camera is on par with the main camera.
The main camera and the wide-angle camera of the Magic 4 Pro each have a resolution of 50 megapixels. This gives us hope that the image quality is on the same level and that the wide-angle camera does not deliver worse pictures like in many smartphones. The OnePlus 9 Pro is a pleasant exception:
The third camera on the back is a telephoto lens with a resolution of 64 megapixels. According to Honor, it has a 3.5x optical zoom and a 100x digital zoom.
Large display and fast charging
The 6.81-inch OLED display of the Honor Magic 4 Pro has a resolution of 2848×1312 pixels. Its refresh rate reaches 120 hertz. The entire casing is waterproof according to IP68. That means the smartphone will not break when submerged.
With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 on board, the Magic 4 Pro should have enough computing power. Depending on the configuration variant, the processor is supported by eight or twelve gigabytes of working memory. The internal storage capacity is 256 of 512 gigabytes.
The battery with a capacity of 4600 mAh can be charged via cable or wirelessly with up to 100 watts. Via the included power adapter or Honor's "SuperCharge Wireless Charger". Regardless of the charging technology, the Magic 4 Pro is supposed to charge its battery to 50 percent in 15 minutes.
The Honor Magic 4 Pro has Android 12 on board ex-factory. The manufacturer provides the operating system with its Magic UI 6 user interface.
Honor Magic 4
Compared to the Pro version, the screen resolution of the Honor Magic 4 is lower at 2664×1224 pixels. Its telephoto lens only has a resolution of eight megapixels, but a five-fold optical zoom in return. The battery is larger with 4800 mAh, but can only be charged via cable. The power adapter supplies 66 watts for this. The cheapest version of the Magic 4 has 128 gigabytes of internal memory, while the Pro version starts at 256 gigabytes.
Price and availability
The Honor Magic 4 Pro is expected to be available in cyan and black in Germany from summer 2022. The retail price is expected to start at 1099 Euros. I do not have any information on Switzerland.
The company does not mention the Honor Magic 4 in its press release for Germany. It seems that the model will not be released regularly here.
