Intel starts selling the Arc A380 desktop graphics card - with restrictions

Intel starts selling its first desktop graphics card, Arc A380. It is supposed to beat a Radeon RX 6400 and will initially appear in complete systems on the Chinese market before being unleashed on the whole world.
Intel is serious about selling its first desktop graphics card, the Arc A380, starting this month. However, it will only be sold in China for the time being and only to manufacturers that install it in their complete systems. Intel specifically names Acer, ASUS, Gigabyte, GUNNIR, HP and MSI.

The Intel Arc A380 is manufactured at TSMC in a 6 nm process and is based on the DG2-128 chip with XE-HPG microarchitecture. It has 128 execution units, has 1024 shader units and eight ray tracing cores. Its base clock is 2000 MHz and it is supported by six gigabytes of GDDR6 video memory via a 96-bit interface. The DG2 chip enables encoding of AV1, HEVC as well as H.264 and can handle 8K resolution media. As for monitor resolution, up to four 4K 120 Hz HDR displays, up to two 8K 60 Hz displays, or up to 360 Hz for 1080p and 1440p resolutions are said to be possible. The power consumption of the card is 75 watts.
Said to beat AMD Radeon RX 6400 and be more affordable
Intel says that the Arc A380 can beat a Radeon RX 6400 with its performance. It is also said to offer up to 27 percent better value compared to this AMD graphics card. Those who play with this graphics card should get over 100 frames per second (FPS) in Apex Legends and Fortnite in 1080p resolution. In Dota, even up to 230 FPS is said to be possible.
Intel's first desktop graphics card costs 1030 yuan in China, which corresponds to about 150 euros or francs. The card should also be available worldwide soon - Intel names summer 2022 as a rough date. And also globally, the Arc A380 will only be sold to OEMs at the beginning. It is not yet known when end customers will be able to buy it directly. Even faster Arc graphics card models are to follow in the summer with the A500 and A700 series.
